The problem
Putting a product on clearance isn’t one change. Several attributes have to change together, and the backorder setting decides whether customers can keep buying the item. One wrong value either oversells stock we don’t have or hides stock we do.
What I did
A repeatable bulk-update process: export, match the affected SKUs, update every attribute involved, then re-import with a check against what changed.
The result
Clearance updates go out together and correctly, and the top rule holds: if a product is shown, it can be added to cart.
