Case study

Turning scattered manufacturer specs into clean product data.

A staging-workbook process that turns one-page-per-SKU manufacturer specs into complete attribute data.

Illustration. Simplified, with no real company data.

The problem

New products arrive with empty attributes. Manufacturers often put each SKU’s specifications on a separate page, so filling in a product line means dozens of pages of copying.

What I did

  1. Collect the manufacturer’s data into a separate staging workbook.
  2. Organize and normalize it with macros I built with ChatGPT’s help.
  3. XLOOKUP the values onto the import template by SKU.

It looks like extra work at first, until you see how much data it collects in a short time.

The result

  • Complete attribute data in a fraction of the time.
  • The staging workbooks get reused for later products from the same vendor.
